SNC Lavalin appoints new managing director for nuclear and power in EMEA

SNC Lavalin has appointed a new managing director for nuclear and power in Europe, Middle East and Africa.

Chris Ball will step down from the role and will be succeeded by Christophe Junillon, currently the group’s director of nuclear new build in the region.

Junillon has worked for the organization for more 25 years.

Since 2013, in his role leading the new build division, he has presided over SNC-Lavalin’s significant design and engineering projects across large nuclear new build projects in the UK, France and the UAE, as well as the early concept development of Small Modular Reactors (SMR) and Fusion Reactors.

Ball will leave SNC-Lavalin in November after 22 successful years at the firm, including 15 years in senior leadership positions where he has overseen considerable strategic growth across the UK, Europe and, for the last four years, the wider EMEA region.

He has also played a significant role in helping to create and steer SNC-Lavalin’s Engineering Net Zero programme.

Joe St Julian, president of nuclear, SNC-Lavalin, said: “Christophe’s dynamic approach to our new build projects in EMEA means he has developed strong and meaningful relationships with our clients across the region, and he is well placed to lead our Nuclear and Power EMEA team towards continued success.

“I look forward to working with him in the region as we grow our net zero energy capabilities, support our clients’ ambitious new build programmes, expand our waste management and decommissioning services and accelerate the adoption of digital products and technology across the energy market.

“I would also like to take the opportunity to thank Chris Ball for the lasting impact he has made as a valued member of our nuclear sector’s executive leadership team. We wish him the very best in his future career.”

Ball will remain at SNC-Lavalin until November 2022 to support the smooth transition.
