Waterman appoints new civil infrastructure associate director

Waterman has appointed Paul Mennell as associate director in Bristol to lead its civils infrastructure team in the south-west region.

A Chartered Civil Engineer with over 20 years’ experience in the water sector, Mennell’s expertise spans fluvial and pluvial flood risk, clean and foul drainage network design, water management and dam engineering for both private and public sector clients.

During his career, he has worked as a team leader, project manager and principal engineer for developers, contractors, water utility companies, local authorities, and the Environment Agency.

He has also worked for National Highways as the south-west drainage lead, and was on the technical panel which provided the latest DMRB drainage standards.

Most recently, he worked with a public-private joint venture including the County Borough Councils of Bridgend, Merthyr Tydfil, and Rhondda Cynon Taf.

In this role, he helped deliver projects such as the detailed design for road culvert replacements, an SAB compliant drainage strategy for a bypass road, as well as design consultancy for waste transfer and Park and Ride sites.

Richard Stockwell, Waterman’s infrastructure and environment regional director for the south-west, said: “We are delighted Paul has joined us to help deliver our expanding workload in the region. His skills and experience will be invaluable in supporting our private sector infrastructure work as well as developing our public sector client base in the south-west.”
