Amey appoints Colin Moynihan as new chairman

Amey UK Limited has appointed Lord Colin Moynihan as its new chairman with immediate effect.

The announcement follows the recent acquisition of Amey by One Equity Partners and Buckthorn Partners.

Lord Moynihan replaces Ian Tyler, who has served as chairman since 2018, and brings with him a wealth of experience in government and the energy sector.

Minister of energy in both the Thatcher and Major governments, he was responsible for renewable energy policy and the British government’s R&D energy programmes.

Prior to that he was parliamentary under secretary of state at the Department of the Environment where he worked as a member of the three-man ministerial team on the privatisation of the water industry.

He was chairman of the UK Renewable Energy Advisory Group and was the first president of the British Wind Energy Association.

He is also currently chairman of Buckthorn Partners LLP (Buckthorn).

In his new role, Lord Moynihan will support the board in their focus on Amey supporting the UK’s energy transition efforts as well as the company’s continued development of its ESG programme in support of social value.

Speaking of his appointment, Moynihan, said: “It is a crucial time to be joining Amey as the company looks to bring its expertise in transport and buildings infrastructure to bear on the UK’s net zero ambitions. I am looking forward to working with the leadership team and offering my support as they realise the future vision for the business.”

Ante Kusurin, principal at OEP, said: “We’re excited to see Colin join the board at Amey and support the management team. We’re confident that his experience will be valuable as the company looks to seize the market opportunity in the UK and grow the business.”

Andy Milner, Amey CEO, said: “We are at an important turning point for the business, and Colin’s wealth of experience in both government and business across numerous sectors will help us realise Amey’s potential. I would also like to thank Ian for his contribution as chairman since 2018, particularly through the sale and transition.”
