Mace Consult appoints new chief operating officer

Mace has announced the appointment of Davendra Dabasia as chief operating officer for Consult.

Dabasia – previously Mace’s managing director for international – will take on a new role as chief operating officer, joining the Mace executive board and taking responsibility for boosting Mace’s global delivery capability and growth, transforming Mace’s consultancy service offer, and embedding best practice across Mace’s consultancy teams around the world.

To deliver the organisation’s new growth aspirations, Mace Consult will also be refreshing its global structure, focusing on four regional growth hubs – the Americas, Europe, Asia Pacific and the Middle East and Africa – with management teams in each region reporting directly to the Mace Consult Board and Jason Millett, CEO for Consult.

Across the globe, the Consult business grew to more than 4,800 people in 2022, built on a number of major strategic programme wins. These included the landmark expansion of the Ontario rail network in Canada, major programme wins in Saudi Arabia, the regeneration of the Ellinikon region in Athens and the company’s first datacentre delivery project in Asia.

Dabasia joined Mace in 2007 and began his career with the business with the delivery of a number of venues for the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Over the past 15 years, he has worked across Mace’s consultancy business with a focus on global events and transport infrastructure delivery, as well as taking a leading role in the delivery of major international programmes such as the Lima 2019 Pan American Games, and the legacy transformation of the Queen Elizabeth Park in London.

He has led and overseen a significant part of Mace’s global expansion over the last five years, including playing a key role in the formation of the MaceTPM partnership in Southeast Asia in 2021.

Jason Millett, Mace’s chief executive officer for Consult, said: “2022 was a landmark year for Mace Consult, as our long-term strategy of securing roles on major global infrastructure schemes saw us appointed to deliver programmes worth hundreds of billions of pounds around the world.

“As we look to build on that success in 2023, Davendra’s appointment as chief operating officer for Consult, taking his seat on the Mace executive board, will make a huge contribution to our business and help us take on our journey towards being the global programme delivery partner of choice."

Looking forward to his new role, Dabasia said: “I’m honoured to have been asked to join the Mace executive board and oversee the next stages of growth for our fantastic consultancy business.

“Over the next 12 months I’ll be working with our clients, our colleagues and the Consult leadership team to enhance our service offering, enhance our delivery and embed global best practise in teams and programmes around the world.”
