Southern Water appoints Barhale for non-infrastructure works

Southern Water has appointed Barhale for a £200m contract for non-infrastructure works.

The contract to fulfil its Lot 1 framework for medium complexity non-infrastructure works will run for an initial term ending 31 March 2026, with an option to extend the agreement to the end of 2030 – increasing the value of the works to £600m.

Work will take place across the whole of the Southern Water network including the Isle of Wight.

Shane Gorman, water director (southern region) at Barhale, said: “The water industry is at a key strategic moment and has ambitious plans for both capacity and sustainability. We are delighted that Southern Water has selected us as a delivery partner for this crucial programme of works.”

Under the framework, individual projects and programmes can exceed £10m value and will cover capital asset maintenance schemes; the support and delivery of new build installations; environmental improvement programmes; new build and planned asset improvements to pumping stations; water, wastewater and sludge process improvement works; mechanical, electrical and control works; and security (SEMD) works.
