Rail/road contract win helps Amey build business in Big Apple

A new contract win for Amey in New York has put the engineering consultancy and public services provider at the centre of Long Island Rail Road’s asset management programme.

Amey will be using their global expertise and skills to help lead the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) enterprise-wide asset management program as part of a new contract with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA).

The contract will see a dedicated project manager from Amey working alongside the LIRR asset management team to help drive cost and performance efficiencies as well as delivering an even more reliable service to the more than 300,000 passengers served daily.

Nicola Hindle, managing director for consulting and rail at Amey said: “Because we already work on some of the world’s most demanding transport systems, we truly understand the challenges asset owners face and we work with our clients to help deliver both efficiency and performance. We’re looking forward to working with MTA and bringing a world-class service to the big apple’s residents and visitors.”

Suzie Heap, Amey’s project manager on the LIRR added: “I’ll be working alongside LIRR colleagues at project level to support all aspects of the programme and ensure that we’re hitting our objectives at every turn. We have a proven track record of delivering this type of project support to our international clients and we’re delighted to be able to bring our experience and skills to this project to help our client make better decisions about their infrastructure.”

The contract was awarded as part of a framework to provide a range of tactical, strategic and transformational services on a project by project basis to assist the MTA and its operating agencies.

The work will help to further establish Amey’s position in the USA as a leading asset management consultant and professional services provider in rail, highway and aviation sectors.
