Destination Kings Cross - ACE Trail gives you that #RonWeasley moment

Amongst the list of numerous wonders that stand unnoticed in the city of London, I would defiantly argue that the King’s Cross area should be right near the top of that list! says Alisa Samuel.

Hold on!

I am guessing that you’re probably wondering, “But it’s just a station?”

And well……you’re not wrong, it is a station but trust me when I say it’s FAR from ‘just a station’.

There’s a simple reason why I think that.  I bet you that in other stations you can’t travel back in time, yes you heard me – travel back in time. Take the opportunity to discover the engineering wonders that have been restored to their former glory and transformed this once run down part of London. You can do this in a fun interactive way…..all whilst using your smartphone.

When you realise just how amazing the King’s Cross trail is you will shout “Bloody Hell” and have a #RonWeasley moment #ACETrail #HarryPotter

Didn’t think you knew that!

Without King’s Cross station, #Harry Potter wouldn’t have got to #Hogwarts #noway #ACETrail #Platform9¾

Personally, I wasn’t enormously excited about this when I first heard about it. But soon after reading a bunch of information about Kings Cross on the ACE Engineering Trail website (which was extremely helpful) and following the trail on twitter, I was sorted. After that I went along and was amazed at how easy and enjoyable learning about the trail really was.

All I had to do was download the ACE Trails app onto my phone, grab a couple of friends for banter and we were off.

Perfect for an interesting day out with friends, families or perhaps just when you’re up for an adventure, especially when the English weather surprises us by not raining. Or maybe even for a school project that might involve an iconic place in London or the history of something spectacular, which will involve some of the best and most fascinating research you can absorb.

Bet you #HermoineGranger would know that The original King’s Cross station took 6,000 men armed with 1,000 horses and 100 steam cranes four years to complete! #noway #ACETrail #HarryPotter

Powered by your fingertips, the app contains 15 short but informative clips that show engineers talking about the challenges and thrills of their job and why it is an important role in our society.

When you realise just how amazing the King’s Cross trail is you will shout “Bloody Hell” and have a #RonWeasley moment #ACETrail #HarryPotter

You will learn about the history of the area and the new uses many of the old buildings have now, whilst discovering the innovative and futuristic structures within the area including; Western Concourse and Platform 9 ¾, The Google Building, Gasholder Eight , Regents Canal and many more!

I promise you going on the trail will be something different yet something exciting. Getting up close and personal with all these great places and discovering things from a completely different perspective. You can finally be able to appreciate the true beauty of the area and have a pretty enjoyable time whilst doing so.

Don’t forget it’s @openhouselondon Open House London weekend on 20th & 21st September.  A perfect time to go!
