About the role

BWB Consulting has an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Building Services Engineer to be based in our London office.

What you will be doing 

The successful applicant would be expected to take responsibility for the management of Phase 1 Environmental Assessments, Compliance Audits and Liability Assessments on projects across a wide range of industry sectors and property classes, including responsibility for the financial performance and commercial management. Excellent client care and communication with other internal teams, supporting business development initiatives are a key part of the role.

Our work is varied and widespread supporting our clients on projects both in London and the South East and throughout the UK as required.We are looking to appoint an experienced Electrical Building Services Design Engineer preferably with Chartered Engineer status through either the IET or CIBSE or be actively working towards Membership Status. The position is predominantly London based although travel to projects through the UK and to BWB’s network of offices will form a normal part of the role. The successful applicant will be able to lead the electrical design on several small projects and/or support the design on several larger projects to our client’s specification where possible using your own knowledge and ability and seeking mentoring and quality assurance input where necessary. Although the successful candidates expertise will be in electrical building services engineering design they will also be required to take an interest, understand deliverables and issues regarding the mechanical building engineering systems including co-ordination between engineering systems to a point where they are comfortable and competent to report on these elements both internally and to external client and project teams.

The individual shall possess a ‘hands-on’ approach and capability to electrical building services design and support the progression of such design in a BIM compliant manner predominantly using Revit and Amtech software. They shall demonstrate a presentable image and ability to attend and where appropriate lead internal meetings; interface with sales representatives; attend external meetings with clients and project teams in support of senior staff and undertake building services condition surveys. Responsibilities will include the ability to project manage their activities to ensure deliverables are prepared and submitted to match the Clients brief; to the correct quality and delivered on time.

You will also demonstrate a positive attitude to promoting innovation both in design solutions and approach to design including software and participate in CIBSE and IET regional events including attending regular seminars which are normally undertaken outside of office hours.

We are in the middle of very exciting times for the mechanical and electrical building engineering services team in London and indeed for BWB as a whole.  As well as celebrating our 25th anniversary, we are looking to grow this dynamic and integral team.  We provide a comprehensive design and advisory service focused on areas such as:-

Pre-planning concept to detailed working design of all mechanical and electrical building engineering services for end users, developers and contractors.

Expertise in delivery of projects in a BIM environment embedding production of both calculations and drawings into a common model.

Holistic whole life asset cycle consultation services from pre-acquisition surveys, building design and post-occupancy energy compliance for leading portfolio asset management funds.

About you

  • Strong IT skills in the use of BIM focussed design software, Microsoft Office applications and AutoCAD combined with a practical approach. You will also be able to demonstrate ability to work well in a team environment whilst also having personal initiative.
  • Be presentable and able to convey a professional image at client, project and internal team meetings and whilst surveying buildings.
