BIM roundup

WYG has revealed that it scooped the Judges Discretionary Award for its “overall excellent effort” during the 48 hour Build New York Live BIM Competition last month. Team OneWYG, led by the firm’s BIM director Johnathan Munkley was taking part in the challenge organised by Asite as the latest event in the Build Earth Live Series.  Competitors were given just two days to design a virtual community outreach sports arena and a residential tower in the Hudson Yards area of Lower Manhattan, New York, using BIM level 2 tools and processes. The final design submitted by team OneWYG was for a 60-storey diamond shaped residential tower of luxury apartments offering stunning views over the Hudson River and Manhattan. Clad in reflective solar panels for energy efficiency, the tower also featured a vertical sky garden running up the total height of its central partition. Putting zero carbon emission and sustainability at the core of its design, OneWYG created a sports arena surrounded by lush gardens extending over the rooftop of the building, transforming the latter into a walking area with a stunning vantage point. www.buildearthlive.com/newyork
